Maison's Guide to Selecting Your Diamonds

At Maison Artisan, we believe every diamond should be chosen with knowledge and confidence. Through expert guidance and thoughtful education, we help you understand the beauty, quality, and value of your piece—making your purchase a truly informed investment.

Understanding the 4Cs
Four key qualities define a diamond’s value and brilliance:

Carat – A measure of weight; larger diamonds are rarer and often more valuable.

Color – Graded D (colorless) to Z (light yellow/brown); the less color, the higher the grade.

Cut – The most vital factor for sparkle; precision cut maximizes brilliance.

Clarity – Indicates internal and external purity, from Flawless (FL) to Included (I). Fewer flaws mean greater rarity and beauty.

Your journey with us is not just about acquiring a diamond—it’s about making an informed and meaningful investment.

When selecting a diamond, four essential characteristics—known as the 4Cs—determine its beauty and value: carat, color, cut, and clarity.

  • Carat refers to the diamond’s weight, with larger stones often commanding greater value.
  • Color grades range from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow or brown), with the most sought-after diamonds appearing icy and pure.
  • Cut, the most crucial of the four, influences how brilliantly a diamond sparkles—precision craftsmanship elevates a diamond’s fire and radiance.
  • Clarity defines a diamond’s internal and external perfection, ranging from Flawless (FL) and Internally Flawless (IF), to Very, Very Slightly Included (VVS), Very Slightly Included (VS), Slightly Included (SI), and Included (I). The fewer the inclusions, the more rare, brilliant, and valuable the diamond becomes.
